December 16 – On Holy Ground … the Gospel of John – Part 33

December 14th, 2012 by admin

In Morning Worship Pastor Reigle will guide us into another study in the Gospel of John.  His message is titled “Clutching Stones … or Clinging to Christ” and is based on John 8:31-59.  We will consider these questions:
— Of what are the descendants of Jonathan and Sarah Edwards an example?
— Few passages of Scripture have such a complete picture of discipleship as does this one.  How is it described?
— The 29 verses that comprise this section of John 8 can best be studied by dividing them into sections and briefly bringing out truths from them:
vs. 31-32:  Discipleship (as noted above)
vs. 33-36:  What are people often guilty of doing?
vs. 37-41a:  How do we become the children of God?
vs. 41b -45:  Why were these Jews not related to God as they thought?
vs. 46-50:  What is the test of a person?
vs. 51-55:  What do we see in Jesus?
vs. 56-59: What must be our response to Jesus?
— Is that yours?
